Fine Art
Kimberly Sau Wai Miller has a modern interpretation of ancient Chinese brush painting. She uses traditional watercolor and rice paper –– a technique that began in China more than 6,000 years ago. The Oakland artist is inspired by her life experiences, Feng Shui and eastern and western symbolism. Dyanna El Haroussi will be selling her late husband Halim Haroussi’s kinetic expressions. Using minimal strokes, the artist drew charcoal images of animals and people. A storybook village on a mountaintop, rustic frescos, trendy cafes in Venice –– Bob Bowman of Morgan Hill captures the essence of Italy in his gorgeous photographs. Although he frequently travels to his favorite place, Venice, the photographer’s best selling photo is of the Venetian Hotel in Capitola. Grants Pass artist Mishel Swartwout is world famous for her ethereal, acrylic paintings. Her gorgeous prints are matted and framed. Choose from twinkling fairies, magical mermaids and whimsical moons.

Sculpture and Mixed Media
Visit Daly City resident Corinne Rebizzo for whimsical seasonal decorations –– playful pumpkins, ghoulish ghosts and smiling snowmen. Apple Valley resident Virginia Jennings magically transforms old windows into shabby-chic works of art. After hours of sanding and scraping, the artist paints pretty flowers on the glass. Her ultra-cool surfboards make waves on stark walls. South San Francisco artist Laura Mitchell paints wine glasses, vases, ornaments and oil bottles with whimsical designs. Disney fans and car collectors will love hanging glass ornaments by Ted Openhym. The Roseville artist converts glass sheets into cars, trucks, flowers and cartoon characters.

September is the perfect month to buy beautiful table linens for the holidays. Fremont resident Denise Best sews placemats, table runners, napkins, small quilts and pet products in all sorts of patterns and designs. Your little one will love learning his ABCs with old-fashioned wooden toys by Douglas and Bobbie Gold. The Atascadero residents make animal trains, fire engines, letter blocks and money trucks. Tick, tock … Belmont resident Lucyann Murray handcrafts wooden magnets and clocks. Wood is cut, sanded, painted and affixed with an original photo or print. Need a special gift for the person who has everything? Concord artists Jack and Betty Borges make copper marble spinners, wine glasses, gel candles, plant stands and hummingbird feeders.
Wearable Art
Belmont jewelry designer Toni Barbera says accessorizing is an art form. She certainly has a knack for choosing gorgeous semi-precious stones, glass and crystal in shades of purple, turquoise and green. Visit Jenny Yee’s Dinky Dimples booth for adorable handmade children’s clothing. The Pacifica resident makes jackets, dresses, bibs, hats, ponchos and vests. “I love cooking with wine; sometimes I even put it in the food.” That’s just one of Millbrae resident Julia Gauci’s funny aprons. She also embroiders T-shirts and sweatshirts. Need a gift in a hurry? Check out her jewelry, watches and cell phone charms. Channel your inner rocker with a music purse by Angels Camp resident Diane Talley. Did Elvis, Bon Jovi or Led Zeppelin make you smile in your younger days? You’ll be sure to find your favorite at the fair. Talley turns vintage record album covers into durable works of art. Rock on! |
