By special arrangement with the Nan Hai Arts Center, the Chinese Folk Dance Association will give a special performance at this year’s Millbrae Art & Wine Festival, August 30-31. Their performances promise to be a fascinating, culturally-enlightening experience for festivalgoers.
Featuring twenty dancers on stage in colorful, authentic dress, the performances will include five popular Chinese folk dances accompanied by music: Northwestern Maidens, Happy Little Yi Girls, Spring River, Celebrating Spring, and Racing Horses. The 30-minute performances begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and 11:15 a.m. on Sunday.
The Chinese Folk Dance Association is a grass-roots organization dedicated to the education and promotion of Chinese culture through dance and music. The group holds classes in San Francisco, Oakland and Sunnyvale.
Beginning with dance basics, students learn folk and ethnic Chinese dances. Since 1959, the Chinese Folk Dance Association has continued to perform in venues varying from major theatres to community gatherings throughout the Bay Area.
