Football and baseball fans will be pumped up to learn the Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge is returning to this year’s Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, September 8-9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Castro Street.

“It’s opening week of the NFL season, college football is in full swing and the MLB pennant races are on,” said Oscar Garcia, President/CEO of the Chamber of Commerce. “It’s one of the best times of the year in sports and, thanks to Comcast, we’re delighted to bring the action LIVE to fans on a giant LED screen again at this year’s festival.”

“Comcast is delighted to partner with the festival to help make the Pigskin Party Lounge a reality,” said Roshad Green, sales manager for Comcast. “Sports fans and friends looking for a spot to kick back will love it.”

The Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge, centrally located at Mercy and Castro, will be a place where festivalgoers can take a break and relax with friends while watching their favorite sporting events on a giant LED screen. Top that off with a tasty microbrew, a glass or wine or sangria, a refreshing margarita or mojito along with an array of fabulous choices from the food vendors nearby and you’ve got a slam dunk winner.

Festival organizers decided to bring in the giant LED screen as a draw for sports fans, not the easiest audience to attract to a weekend festival, particularly during the NFL and college football season and MLB pennant races.

Festival organizers partnered with Auburn-based Visible Display Corporation to bring the 9-foot-by-12-foot light-emitting-diode screen to the festival. Giant LED screens have been bringing video excitement to major events like concerts and sporting events for years, but Visible Display Corporation is the first company to offer an easily portable and appropriately sized screen for events like a street fair.

While giant screens must be assembled and disassembled by an experienced crew at an exorbitant cost, the Visible Display screen can pop out of its trailer and, in under 30 minutes, be broadcasting on a larger screen and in higher resolution than you’ll find in sports bars.

“The trailer and technology is state of the art,” said Derek Clark, of Visible Display Corporation. “We’re excited to bring it to the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival to see what the response will be like.”
